By Mr. Parkes' influence, Mandarins were immediately sent upon the track of the three men, and I have great hopes that they will not be able to apprehend them, but that they will succeed in obtaining such portions of the stolen monies as may still be in their possession.
As it would be at least four or five days before any intelligence of the Mandarins' proceedings at Sun Ooi could arrive at Canton, and as Mr Parkes had kindly offered to inform me of the result, I did not think it advisable to remain in Canton. I returned to the Colony yesterday afternoon.
